Lake Week 2020

Set to take place August 1 to 9, is now cancelled until further notice this year, due to Covid-19. We will, however, be using our social media and connections around the lake to hold family parties celebrating Lake Scugog for its value to our environment. our economy and our lives at that time.

Lake Week 2018

Lake Week 2018 was a big success considering it was our first year and the planning time was short. The Lake Stewards pushed forward the idea of a week to celebrate our Lake, its beauty and its economic importance. Others stepped up to take on duties depending on their interests.  There were the following events:

  • Scugie the Scugog Lake monster

August 11, participation by the Stewards in the Chamber of Commerce Beer Festival and in the evening a Courtyard BBQ and Dance at Old Flame Brewery including a very successful silent auction.

  • Monsters and Milfoil an original play and musical about the fictional Lake Scugog monster by the Theatre on the Ridges which helped children understand the needs of the lake.
  • Meta4 Craft Gallery sponsored a paint the fish contest and auction.
  • Articles in the paper
  • Scugog Lake Stewards open house on Sunday at the Latcham Centre.  It was a big success with all of our researchers present with displays and ready to talk to the public about what is going on in Lake Scugog and what they might see. This is something we intend to do once again in 2019.
